Thank you for an Incredible Year!!!
It’s been a year since I first got the inspiration to launch Turtle in a Party Dress and effectively green light myself, and I have to confess that I have been so focused on all that hasn’t been accomplished yet, so busy thinking about what’s next and how on earth I’m gonna fund it, that I haven’t at all been appreciating what has been accomplished.
Luckily for me, the holidays come around every year and stop me in my tracks whether I like it or not, so I have had some time to look back, and what I see I don’t even know how to express other than by saying THANK YOU. I am overwhelmed. Thank you, beyond thank you, to the long line of ridiculously talented and wonderful people I have been blessed to work with this year. You have filled the Turtle’s first year with non-stop love and laughter (the kind that makes you almost pee) and if that’s not success I don’t know what is.
To my Roadside Cowboys (Dave Whims, Dusty Felts, Ross Anthony and honorary editor Cowboy Max Grill) I may have technically picked you up on the side of the road in Malibu, but really its you who picked me up and made me realize I can do this. Your unstoppable and playful spirits are an inspiration, I’m so proud of what we created together and I look forward to the day when the Cowboys ride again, especially since yours is the only reality show I want to see.
To the hilarious cast and crew of GG’s Java Joint, I gave you one tiny suggestion and you went a mile with it, the result being a first season of one seriously hilarious Improv show. I can’t thank you enough for going along with this crazy idea to make a show from out of thin air and making John and I laugh till it hurt in the process. (Love you guys so much! Amie Dellavalle, Matty Norwood, Tami Hillberry Presley, Eric Wielochowski, Tony Robinette, Susan diRende, James Mason, JJ Dunlap, Laura Holliday, Ben Marcus, Cristal Bubblin, Pepper Berry, Laura Eichorn, Richard Russell and last but certainly not least, the Gerry to my Gerry – John Connon) My greatest wish is that people will watch, find out what I already know which is that you people are ridiculously funny, and beg us to make more.
To my partners in crime who helped release the first season of The Sex Trade this year (Tim Rerucha & John Connon) and all the fans who enthusiastically helped us spread the word. I’ll never forget our Thursday night release parties, making popcorn, drinking a glass of wine and tweeting and face booking our way to success. Thanks to you, I think we achieved our goal of proving that the cast and crew of The Sex Trade has got talent. We now have close to 1000 subscribers and 300,000 views and it just keeps climbing every day.
To Pepper Berry and Laura Eichorn – “Ronnie & Lorraine The Last Reunion” is pure comedic gold and Diego and I both thank you for allowing us to be a part of it. (If you’re in LA, do yourself a favor, click on the link above and go see this show)
And finally to my dear Tallulah (Mhairi Morrison) of Feathers and Toast, you’ve taken over my kitchen and my life for the last 4 months with your incessantly talking Scottish Mime act, darling, and I am all the better for it. Our team of 4 (including Diego and Katie Nolan) has proven to me that hard work can also be outrageously fun. I am so proud of what we have already created, and can’t wait to dive in and create more. I know that Tallulah will get her wish, to inspire people to bring play back to their lives, she has certainly brought it back to mine.
So thanks again everybody, from the bottom of my heart, for making 2013 one really great year. I can’t wait to see what we create next!
Oh and P.S. today is my birthday so if you want to give me a gift, then this is my wish: carve out an hour of your day, grab some popcorn and your favorite beverage and cozy up to watch some of my shows. If I can make you laugh, that would be the greatest gift.
